Boardly Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Boardly ("Boardly", "we", "us") is a mobile app for playing board and party games with friends. It is operated by Low Weng Chee, based in Malaysia.
This policy explains what information Boardly collects, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, contact us at wclow0420@gmail.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Username. You choose a username when you register. Other players can see it and can search for you by it.
- Password. We store only a one-way hash of your password. We cannot read your password.
- Profile picture (optional). If you choose a profile picture, the image you select is uploaded and shown to other players. Boardly only reads the single photo you pick; it does not access the rest of your photo library.
We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, date of birth, contacts or location.
Information created when you use Boardly
- Friends. Friend requests you send or receive, and your list of friends.
- Tables and games. The tables you create or join, the moves you make, and the results of finished games.
- Coins and cosmetics. Your coin balance, the rewards you have claimed, and the profile borders you own or use. Coins are earned in the app and cannot be bought.
- Online status. While the app is open and you are signed in, your friends can see that you are online.
- Language preference. The app reads your device language to choose which language to show. This stays on your device.
Information collected automatically
- IP address and request logs. Our servers receive your IP address with every request. We use it to limit abuse (for example, too many login attempts) and it appears in server logs kept for troubleshooting and security.
- App update checks. The mobile app checks for updates through Expo's update service (EAS Update). These requests include technical details such as the app version and platform.
- Our website. boardly.lol sets no cookies and has no analytics. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you open a page.
Boardly does not contain advertising, does not use third-party analytics or tracking, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- create and secure your account and keep you signed in;
- run games in real time between you and the players at your table;
- show your username, profile picture, profile border and online status to other players;
- operate friends, invitations, coins and rewards;
- prevent abuse, fix problems and keep the service running;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who can see your information
- Other players can see your username, profile picture, profile border, and your moves and results in games you share with them. Your friends can also see when you are online.
-
Service providers process data for us so that Boardly can run:
- Render — hosts our servers and database (Singapore region).
- Expo (EAS) — delivers app updates.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — distribute the app. Their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policies.
- Authorities, where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Boardly.
If Boardly is ever transferred to another operator, your information may be transferred with it. We will tell you in the app before that happens.
4. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on servers in Singapore. If you use Boardly from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in Singapore.
On your device, the app stores your sign-in tokens in the device's secure storage, and your language choice in app storage.
5. How long we keep it
- Account information is kept for as long as your account exists.
- Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
- When you delete your account, we remove your username, password hash, profile picture and friendships. The record of games you played is kept without your identity, so that the other players keep their game history. It is no longer linked to your username.
6. Your choices and rights
- Change your profile picture or password at any time in the Profile tab.
- Delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing wclow0420@gmail.com.
- Access or correction. You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing wclow0420@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. We will respond to requests within the time your local law requires.
Because Boardly accounts have no email address attached, we may need to confirm that you control the account (for example, by asking you to act from within the signed-in app) before we act on a request.
7. Security
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, and sign-in tokens are kept in your device's secure storage. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please choose a password you do not use elsewhere.
Boardly does not currently offer password recovery. If you forget your password, we may not be able to restore access to your account.
8. Children
Boardly is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age for digital consent in your country, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at wclow0420@gmail.com and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Boardly changes. When we do, we will update the effective date above, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app.
